Building a Culture of Giving
We've come a long way fostering customer service and quality values within the culture of our organizations. It seems like these two elements have been woven throughout the fabric of our orientation and training programs, our marketing materials, and even our team evaluation processes.
This is great progress, but why stop there?
As we know too well, our non-profits are reliant on the generosity and charitable offerings of others. What we don’t always know is how to predict where that generosity is born – is it the calculated solicitation, the success story in a newsletter, a visitor passing by a donor wall, or your program staff member articulating the need for new equipment to a volunteer? Which act best plants the harvested seed?
The short answer is all of the above. Fundraising is not the exclusive domain of the development department. Everyone has a role and should be empowered to know the amazing impact of their actions. Why not make the commitment to create an organizational culture that embraces – inwardly and outwardly – philanthropy? From our receptionists, administrators, and program staff to our mission recipients and volunteers. Start today, stay the course, and reap the rewards.
